Callistemon 'Pink Alma' (Small 140mm pot)
$22.00
Callistemon 'Pink Alma' is a compact bottlebrush with soft pink brushes in spring and often a second flush in autumn. New growth comes through in bronze-pink tones, so it looks good even between flowerings. Honeyeaters and bees love it, and it's tough and low water once settled in Canberra gardens.
- Mature size: Around 2m tall and 1.5m wide
- Foliage: Narrow green leaves with bronze-pink new growth
- Flowers: Soft mid-pink bottlebrush flowers in spring, often again in autumn
- Growth habit: Compact, bushy shrub with a slightly open, weeping form
- Position: Full sun to part shade
- Climate: Tolerates Canberra frosts and dry summers once established
- Water needs: Low once established; water regularly in its first summer
- Soil: Copes with most soils, including heavier clay. Dig in gypsum clay breaker to help drainage. In pots, use Native Osmocote Potting Mix.
- Feeding: Osmocote Native in spring, or Neutrog Bush Tucker as a liquid feed. Seasol at planting helps it settle in.
- Maintenance: Low; trim lightly after flowering to keep it dense and encourage more flowers
- Ideal for: Native gardens, informal low hedges, screening and attracting birds
