Silver Falls is a fast-growing trailing plant with small, round, shimmering silver leaves that cascade over pots, hanging baskets and retaining walls like a waterfall. It also makes a soft silver groundcover in garden beds and copes well with heat and dry spells once settled in. It can be knocked back by Canberra's hard frosts, so it's happiest in pots or a sheltered, sunny spot through winter.

  • Mature size: approx. 10cm high, trailing up to 1.2m
  • Foliage: small, round, silver-grey leaves
  • Flowers: grown for its foliage
  • Growth habit: fast, trailing and spreading
  • Position: full sun to part shade
  • Climate: heat and drought tolerant; protect from hard frosts
  • Water needs: low to moderate; water more often in pots and baskets
  • Soil: Well-drained soil improved with compost. Break up heavy Canberra clay with gypsum clay breaker. In pots, use Osmocote Premium Potting Mix.
  • Feeding: Osmocote All Purpose in spring, or Yates Dynamic Lifter for an organic feed. Seasol at planting and through summer helps with heat stress.
