Grevillea 'Hills Jubilee' (Small 140mm pot)
Grevillea 'Hills Jubilee' is a compact, fine-leafed native shrub that flowers for months on end, with clusters of waxy pink and cream spider flowers from spring through to autumn. It was bred locally at Bywong Nursery, just over the border near Canberra, and copes with frosts down to around -7°C. Nectar-feeding birds and bees love it, and its neat, rounded habit makes it easy to fit into smaller gardens.
- Mature size: approx. 1–1.5m high x 1m wide
- Foliage: Fine, evergreen, green foliage
- Flowers: Waxy pink and cream spider flowers, spring to autumn
- Growth habit: Compact, upright and mounding
- Position: Full sun to part shade
- Climate: Frost tolerant to around -7°C; drought tolerant once established
- Water needs: Low once established
- Soil: Free-draining, low-phosphorus soil. On heavy Canberra clay, dig in gypsum clay breaker and plant on a slight mound. In pots, use Native Osmocote Potting Mix.
- Feeding: Sensitive to phosphorus, so use a native fertiliser only: Osmocote Native in spring, or Neutrog Bush Tucker as a liquid feed. Avoid general fertilisers and manures.
- Maintenance: Low. Prune lightly after flowering to keep it dense and encourage more flowers; use a low-phosphorus native fertiliser
- Ideal for: Low hedges and narrow beds, mass planting, large pots, bird-attracting native gardens
