Leucadendron 'Sundance' (Small 140mm pot)

$22.00

Leucadendron 'Sundance' is a bushy South African shrub with fresh green foliage that lights up with sunny yellow bracts from late winter into spring. The colourful bracts last for weeks on the plant and make long-lasting cut flowers too. Give it full sun and free-draining soil and it's a tough, low-water performer in Canberra gardens.

  • Mature size: Around 1.5m tall and 1.2–1.5m wide
  • Foliage: Soft green, upward-pointing leaves on a dense, rounded bush
  • Flowers: Golden-yellow bracts around yellow cones, late winter to spring
  • Growth habit: Compact, bushy and upright
  • Position: Full sun with well-drained soil; avoid wet, heavy clay
  • Climate: Handles frosts to around -5°C once established; shelter young plants in their first winter
  • Water needs: Low once established; drought tolerant
  • Soil: Free-draining, low-phosphorus soil. On heavy Canberra clay, dig in gypsum clay breaker and plant on a slight mound. In pots, use Native Osmocote Potting Mix.
  • Feeding: Sensitive to phosphorus, so use a native fertiliser only: Osmocote Native in spring, or Neutrog Bush Tucker as a liquid feed. Avoid general fertilisers and manures.
  • Maintenance: Low; a light trim after flowering keeps it bushy
  • Ideal for: Sunny borders, feature planting, large pots and cut flowers
